What's stopping you

Hello!
If you don't already know, this blog was created because it was required for a class. I have come to love this blog and sharing my experiences with life and theater and I will make an effort to continue to do so throughout this year.
Speaking of, Happy New Year and recent Holidays, etc! I hope life is happy for you and feels successful already. Don't forget to be taking opportunities, having fun, living life, learning, and being truly happy this year, documenting along the way. With a new year often comes new goals, personal for everyone. Let me share with you my found importance of goals quickly.
Goals are a necessity if you want to grow in absolutely any aspect of your life. Whether it is your career, family life, social situations, personal problems, or physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being, setting goals, however small, can dramatically change your life. Goals only really do their job, though, if they have certain criteria. Keep these things in mind when setting and achieving goals this year.
Goals should be:
-Specific. Very specific, down to the who, what, when, where, and hows of your goals. Without a specific goal, progress is unlikely
-Attainable/Reasonable. The goal to be a millionaire for most people would not be a very realistic goal. Neither is the goal to get married/into a serious relationship when you literally live in your bedroom with your Ritz crackers. See what I mean?
-Both long, intermediate, and short term. Without making a short-term goal to do your homework daily, are you really going to as well in school as your long/intermediate goal thinks you are? There is zero shame in starting small. Having a good basis is where strong people come from. Don't forget that there is also no shame in forgetting and failing in your goals, maybe often. Goals are meant to push us...
-Hard. Yes, you can have simple, even easy, goals but if you are willing to push yourself to work for what you want, you will not only become better in whatever aspect you are improving but in life and as a person in general. Hard work creates strong, influential people.
Those are just some things that can really help you with your goal-achieving this year.
The last thing I want to share with you is a challenge I like to issue to myself and others at the beginning of each year. Every year I pick a phrase or quote that I want to be and live by this upcoming year. It usually is something I find scrolling through Pinterest or Facebook and it just speaks to me. If I chose whatever seems to 'vibe' with me, when I look back at the end of the year I always find that it was exactly what I needed and that it described my life perfectly. This year I chose the phrase "What's stopping you" and I even picked a specific picture to look at and hang in my room to remind me of my goals and dreams. I challenge anyone reading this to do so too. Find something that really speaks to you, because really, what's stopping you?
