College is the best thing ever, everyone.

Hi.
Sorry for those of you who actually read my blog and expect me to blog- I don't really do that, if you haven't noticed. This is honestly a place where I reflect. All that I say and write about are for me to read my own thoughts, over and over again.

So! I'm back! I honestly have so much to write about always, but then taking the time to actually write doesn't happen as much as I need it to. I am making a goal to write more. We'll see how that goes.

Now! Back to school! I love school. I love learning, I love knowledge, I love people- school is so for me. It just fits me. I can easily be successful. For those of you who it may not exactly be "your thing," here are some tips I've found have given me success in the past, and that I hope to incorporate into my year this year to make it the best yet.

1. Go to class go to class go to class, BUT, know when you don't necessarily need to go and do things that are more important, when applicable and necessary (ex. lunch with an old friend or math review? If you can be successful reviewing on your own, do it. People first.)
2. Take good notes
3. Create your own study guide
4. Do what you love, whether on the side or whatever
5. Seriously, do WHAT EVER you want to do. College is so full on opportunities you wont have even known existed- take advantage of them and take horseback riding or bowling, or something like that that is fun for you.
6. Take risks, mess around, learn to be open-minded, and then get back to work
7. Have a planner/homework tracker (I love the MyHomework app- it is fantastic!)
8. Headphones can be your best friend
9. OPPORTUNITY- Seriously, you see an opportunity to get to know someone better, to date someone, to audition for a show, TAKE IT! So many doors are opened- do not be afraid.
10. Do not let yourself go all introverted and dark and twisty. Do not be afraid of the upperclassmen or teachers. Befriend everyone, and don't let your inhibitions get in your way (I'm still working on this)
11. Be understanding and be kind of everyone- you know nothing of people's lives.
12. DO NOT ever assume anything. Don't assume things about assignments, classes, teachers, or people. Especially people. Never assume someone's gender, religious affiliation, sexual preference, personality, etc. Just ASK, honestly.
13. Get great roommates. Seriously, this is half of your college experience. Find great roommates who love you, who you're great friends with, who you can talk to and not need to wear pants in front of. They are the best.
14. Find your people! Get people in your corner who you know have your back. (Bonus if you can find upperclassmen who keep an eye out for you)
15. Don't forget to spend time alone. It can be the greatest blessing.
16. Sit in the front row, seriously.
17. Email your teachers, do extra credit, and take advantage of their office hours. Get ahead and befriend your teachers. That could be the difference of losing or keeping a scholarship (it was for me)!
18. Be positive.
19. ALWAYS be prepared.
20. Don't ever be afraid to ask for help. Also, crying is OK.

College is fantastic- Love it.
